Athanasios Douzenis was born in Athens and studied at the Medical School of the University of Ioannina. She received a M.Sc. in the Psychiatric Clinic of the University of Sheffield and received her specialty in Psychiatry in 1992 in Great Britain (London) where she worked. In Greece he returned in 1995 and initially worked at OKANA where he participated in the design and implementation of the Substitution Programs until 2000. 

He was elected a lecturer in psychiatry at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, then Assistant (2005) and then Associate Professor (2012). In 2017 he was elected a regular Professor of Psychiatric Psychiatry. He has the Directorate of the 2nd Psychiatric Clinic at PGN "Attikon" since 2013.

He is the President of the Hellenic Psychiatric Association (EPED). He has dealt with the publication of 3 books (Psychiatry, Child Psychiatry and Adolescent Psychiatry and Ethics and Ethics in Mental Health). He is the publisher of the scientific journal "Ati". He has more than 180 publications in international scientific journals with judges.

President of the Greek Forensic Psychiatric Association.
